New Orleans Documentary "Refuge of Last Resort" Completed

The first documentary shot by a New Orleans filmmaker , James L. Bills, has been completed. Shot in high definition video, Refuge of Last Resort documents James oddysey through the disaster called Hurricane Katrina. "It was a nightmare that I hope never happens again!", he relates in the film. After surviving one of the most powerful storms in recorded history, JAMES, his family and friends find themselves in a horrible dilemma. With only minimal supplies in hand, they had thought they would be returning home to make minor repairs and get on with their lives. Instead, he, his wife TRACEY, close friends GABRIEL and ARIEL, are trapped in their hotel when New Orleans’ levees break and quickly flood the city. After a couple of days, they soon realize that no help is on the way. They’re out of food, there is no drinkable water, and no electricity.

They find themselves having to survive by whatever means necessary and are in the same situation thousands of others are. Anarchy breaks out in the city as hundreds of looters take to the streets searching first for food and water, then in a complete frenzy, turn animalistic and begin to assault, rape, and murder anyone who appears helpless. With no visible government security, James and Gabriel take matters into their own hands and do whatever they must to save their families.

Six days of hell… no help from the government, local, state, or federal… no help from the outside world…no help from God… they soon realize, they are on their own!

Refuge of Last Resort has been submitted to and being considered for the top documentary film fest in the U.S.!
