Internship at Action Against Hunger

Want to Intern with ACF?

We Invite Inquiries from Interested Interns

Action Against Hunger offers opportunities for interns who want to learn about humanitarian organizations from the inside. Our interns become deeply involved in our projects and aren't asked merely to file and make copies (or coffee, for that matter) any more often than we expect from everyone else in our office.

Typically, our interns work full- or part-time for a staff member who needs help completing a time-consuming project. Though we offer guidance, interns are expected to work autonomously most of the time. Indeed, we want interns who are committed and self-directed. Whenever possible, we seek applicants with education or experience relevant to the projects available.

An intern's assignment generally lasts from one to six months, and sometimes an intern will be assigned more than one project. The work can be tedious—inputting and analyzing reams of data, for example—but it is always integral to our mission and an unfiltered glimpse into our operations.

Internships are unpaid, but career-minded interns often find that their experiences with us provide valuable entries on résumés that lead to jobs elsewhere or even with Action Against Hunger itself in New York or in the field. Note that most of our interns work in our New York office. Opportunities in the field are few, and interns interested in working overseas must pay their own way.

As internship opportunities arise, we post them on our website at: actionagainsthunger.org
