Position Available: Sales & Marketing Manager

Women Make Movies is the world's leading distributor of independent films by and about women, with a focus on cutting-edge documentaries that give depth to today's headlines, as well as artistically and intellectually challenging works in all genres. A non-profit media organization founded in 1972, the company is dedicated to the production, distribution and exhibition of independent film, and now has a catalog of more than 500 films by more than 400 directors from more than 30 countries worldwide. WMM films are broadcast on television and cable stations in the US and abroad, are exhibited at festivals around the world, and are used by thousands of educational, cultural and community groups each year.

Our distribution service is the earned income division of the organization. We are seeking an energetic, highly-motivated person to lead our sales and marketing efforts. This position reports to the Executive Director and oversees a staff of 3 full time and 1 part time employee.

Qualifications:

* 5 - 7+ years professional experience in marketing or sales environment—preferably in non-profit, film or other arts related organization.

* Strong management and organizational skills, with previous experience in managing staff a must.

* Proven record of developing and managing communications campaigns.

* Strong sales background a plus.

Specific responsibilities include:

* Develop and execute annual sales and marketing plan to retain and expand opportunities with existing customers and develop new customers, including forecasting, budgeting, scheduling, staff assignments, and regular sales analysis.

* Supervise the sales and marketing staff, including day to day oversight, leading regular sales and marketing meetings, evaluating processes, handling staff evaluations, and making recommendations on future hiring needs of the department.

* Oversee the development of all sales, marketing and promotional materials needed for the marketing of WMM’s films, including theatrical, semi-theatrical, educational, broadcast and home video campaigns. This includes working with staff, consultants and vendors to develop materials including the annual catalog and other printed materials, as well as online promotions.

* Supervise media relations, including providing direction for and overseeing the development and maintenance of public relations materials, campaigns and press lists.

* Supervise regular maintenance and improvements to the public website; develop features and functions that enhance users experience; sell films; and provide information to filmmakers. Work with consultants on technical and design issues.

* Serve as liaison with filmmakers around sales and marketing issues.

* Work with Administrative Office Manager on to ensure that the administrative and equipment needs of the sales and marketing department are met.

* Represent WMM at public events, including conferences, meetings and festivals as needed.
