Knowing how to light
your scene can be the difference between a great shot and a mediocre one. This workshop will teach you the basic principles of light, and give you hands-on experience with a range of professional lighting gear. Learn about 3-point lighting, gels, color temperature, luminance, and more.

Bad production sound can kill your project. This workshop offers in-depth instruction with professional audio gear. Learn the difference between microphone types, work with mixers, lavaliers, and boom poles, and get familiar with wireless technology. A must for all independent filmmakers.

Adobe After Effects is the industry standard software for the creation of motion graphics, animation, video effects, and visually stunning titles. This workshop covers basic animation, keyframing, transformations, compositing, as well as how to import and export between After Effects and Final Cut Pro/AVID. Enhance your production value with this essential software! A basic understanding of FCP/AVID and Adobe Photoshop is recommended.

DIGITAL CINEMATOGRAPHY
2-Session Workshop

"Acceptable" footage won't cut it if you want your project to shine. Through a variety of hands-on shooting exercises, you'll learn diagramming and shot blocking, composition, continuity, and advanced lighting techniques. Basic knowledge of lighting principles and working knowledge of the Panasonic DVX100/A or Sony PD150 cameras is recommended for this workshop. Hone your craft as a Cinematographer, and make your moving images move you!

INTERVIEWING FOR CAMERA

The Interview is the backbone of non-fiction storytelling. This hands-on workshop will teach you good interview technique, show you how to prepare for, set-up, and execute your interview, and get you thinking about how each interview will fit into the larger film. A variety of interviewing exercises will help you feel comfortable next to the camera, and your subjects comfortable in front of the camera.
