Join Witness for a free public forum on "Why Can't America Have Human Rights?"
When: Thursday, September 14th at 6:30pm
Where: The Riverside Church (at the nave), 490 Riverside Drive, NYC
Speakers and performers include: Reverend Dr. James A. Forbes Jr.; DJ Spooky; Mallika Dutt-Breakthrough; Larry Cox-Amnesty International USA; Sister Aisha Al-Adawiya-Women in Islam and CAIR NY; Kent Lebstock-American Indian Law Alliance; Joo-Hyun Kang-The Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice; Silvia Henriquez-National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health; Ajamu Baraka-The United States Human Rights Network; and The Riverside Inspirational Choir.
The forum will highlight the many human rights challenges facing the U.S. today including the death penalty and jailing; detentions and deportations; poverty; and discrimination on the basis of sex, race, religion, and sexuality.
Organized by Breakthrough and the Mission and Social Justice Commission of The Riverside Church, co-sponsored by WITNESS and a host of leading human rights organizations.
