October 7: ACME Media Reform Summit, Burlington, VT

The Action Coalition for Media Education presents "Facing the Media Crisis: Media Education for Reform, Justice and Democracy." October 6-8 in Burlington, Vermont, there will be over 50 workshops and 20 plenary keynotes including Pacifica Radio's Amy Goodman, author/speaker Bill McKibben, author/citizen activist Diane Wilson, U.S. Senate Candidate Bernard Sanders and actor/activist David Strathairn.

October 10: Media That Matters: Good Food Premiere, Vancouver, BC

Ready for some film for thought? Arts Engine brings you a collection of short films on food and sustainability. From singing peanuts to teenage tomato-growers, these films will make you laugh, make you think and inspire you to take action for a healthy, sustainable and delicious future.

Launching October 2006, "Media That Matters: Good Food" is the first FOCUS collection from the Media That Matters Film Festival. The films will stream online, screen around the country and be distributed on DVD to educators and activists.

Media That Matters: Good Food premieres at the Community Food Security Coalition Conference in Vancouver, BC, on October 10th at 8pm. Arts Engine's Shira Golding will be at the premiere and at the conference, moderating two related workshops.
