NYMOMA features films on Singapore!

Three films that take you to the heart of Singapore, which — surprise, surprise — is more than a chewing gum-banning, no-spitting country.

LOCUST
Directed by Victric Thng | 2003 | 3 min | In Cantonese, English subtitles
A poignant, poetic film about memory and longing.

LOST SOLE
Directed by Sanif Olek | 2005 | 18 min | In Malay, English subtitle
A Muslim old man searches for his missing sandals at the mosque and finds more.

SINGAPORE GAGA
Directed by Tan Pin Pin | 2005 | 55 min | In Malay and Mandarin, English subtitles
From the self-proclaimed “national treasure” street performer to the avant-garde musician who’s famed for playing toy pianos, offbeat characters pepper this quirky documentary. Filled with the multicultural sounds of Singapore, the film is a paean to the aural delights that make up the country’s psyche.
