Vietnamese Film "As The Call, So The Echo" Premieres in NYC

It not another war film, it is film about what many of us forget--our humanity. The touching film about an American Doctor who volunteers for two weeks in Vietnam has received rave reviews from critics and private audience. What Mario Diaz, producer of LatinTV, calls, “a riveting and poetic documentary about the ripple effect of an act of charity” is now screening to New Yorkers for the first time.

The film opens at 7:00 pm on November 1, 2006, and will continue for its weeklong run at 9:00 pm nightly from November 2, 2006 through November 7, 2006.

With gory emergency room scenes, romantic landscapes of Vietnam, and the reality of life and death, the film cuts through both worlds (American and Vietnamese) and reveals a compassion that transcends language barriers and culture. We hope the film exposes viewers to life outside the United States and to inspire them to donate their time, energies, and expertise to underserved populations across the globe.

Keeping in time with the film’s roots of volunteerism, director Keir Moreano has pledged to donate a portion of ticket sale proceeds to MEDRIX, a nonprofit medical humanitarian organization that made his trip Vietnam possible.

A special additional screening will be held Saturday, November 4, 2006 at 5:00 pm with director Keir Moreano and his father, Dr. Alex Moreano, who will participate in a Q & A session immediately following the film.
