Project Director Position: Youth Media Learning Network
The Youth Media Learning Network (YMLN) is a capacity building and professional development initiative to strengthen the practice and expand the reach of youth media. Drawing upon the success of past youth media field building efforts, and informed by established professional development strategies in other fields, the work of the YMLN will include a fellows program that identifies and strengthens leaders within the youth media field, peer institutes that bring youth media, youth development and formal K-12 educators together to explore promising practices, and an online community that promotes the documentation and sharing of instructional methods and materials. We are currently looking to hire a project director to lead the effort.
The Network is a collaborative effort of Education Development Center, Inc. and Educational Video Center. EDC is the home of the YouthLearn Initiative which works to aid educators in the integration of technology, media and project-based learning in both formal and informal settings. EVC is a nationally recognized media arts center that has been teaching media making and analysis to youth, educators and community organizers for 22 years. Launch funds for the a two year pilot phase of the YMLN have been provided by Open Society Institute and the Kellogg Foundation.
