The Barefoot Approach Beyond India - an evening with Bunker Roy
The Ordinary Heroes of Afghanistan - a documentary film premiere

Wednesday, February 7th, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Helen Mills Theater, 137-139 West 26th Street, New York

Join us for an evening of learning and unlearning with Bunker Roy,
founder of the Barefoot College, and watch the remarkable story of 10 Afghan men and women who travel to the Barefoot College of Tilonia in India to become Barefoot Solar Engineers.

Since 1972, the Barefoot College, in Tilonia, Rajasthan , India, has
been working to improve the lives of the rural poor by addressing basic
needs for water, electricity, housing, health, education, income and
human rights. The College trains semi-literate women and men to become
"barefoot" solar engineers, water supply engineers, architects,
teachers, midwives and paramedics, and to develop their own solutions
to meet community needs. This barefoot approach to sustainable
development is operating in 20 centers in India today, and is being
replicated in Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Senegal, and Bhutan.

Space is limited so please reserve your tickets early.
