USSF: Connecting the Dots, From Image to Movement

This summer at the United States Social Forum (USSF) in Atlanta, Georgia (June 27 - July 1, 2007), Arts Engine will present the voices and visions of emerging and young filmmakers, their media mentors and the organizations that support youth media.

Connecting the Dots: From Image to Movement, will ask:

The creation of media by young people is an important instrument for media literacy and empowerment, yet what happens with the life of a film after the picture is locked?

• How can media connect with social justice movements?

• How are media works by young people used effectively to connect different movements for social change?

• How can youth created media be used in the classroom to generate critical thought and foster community action?

If you’re going to be in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday, June 28th, join us!

We are tag teaming with organizations like MNN Youth Channel, People TV and Global Action Project to explore these issues and gage the youth media and social justice landscape.

More about USSF

The US Social Forum is more than a conference, more than a networking bonanza, more than a reaction to war and repression. The USSF will provide space to build relationships, learn from each other's experiences, share our analysis of the problems our communities face, and bring renewed insight and inspiration. It will help develop leadership and develop consciousness, vision, and strategy needed to realize another world.
