Job: Administrator in Africa Action, Washington DC

Africa Action is the oldest advocacy organization on Africa in the United States (founded in 1953). The Washington, DC-based nonprofit is seeking an experienced and capable full-time Administrator. Position Summary:

The Office Administrator plays a vital role at Africa Action and has overall responsibility for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s day-to-day administration. The responsibilities of this position fall into three main categories: financial management and development (basic bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, deposits, petty cash, donor database management, annual budgets, assistance with audit and tax reporting, direct mail fundraising, and donor relations including drafting correspondence, reports and proposals); office and personnel administration (phones, filing, supplies, timesheets, payroll, HR benefits administration, travel and meeting arrangements); and, Executive Office and Board relations (drafting correspondence, meeting preparations and minutes, supporting Board committees, maintaining records, communications between the Executive Director and the Board). Since the office is small, the Administrator will have the opportunity to work closely with fundraising and program in a support capacity. The Administrator must use a high degree of judgment and independent decision-making in order to take action and/or make recommendations to Executive Director.
