"Myth of the Motherland": A New Documentary Film By Lisa Russell and Governess Films

Governess Films is pleased to share their new documentary film project currently underway called Myth of the Motherland

Directed and produced by Lisa Russell,Governess Films will follow a group of young spoken word artists to 12 African countries to meet with African scholars, writers, poets, and others to address myths and biases about Africa and Africans. It is a fiscally sponsored project of the IFP

Please join us on July 10th with a special appearance by DJ SPOOKY as we co-host a Benefit Show and CD Release Party at the Knitting Factory with EMANCIPATE, a new initiative of the Culture Project which brings together women musicians and artists who are activists in their communities to share stories and ideas, and engage in community change work together. All proceeds will help support the production trip to take place in early 2008.
