Free Outdoor Short Film Festival on September 23, 2007

Tribeca Enterprises, the parent company of the Tribeca Film Festival, has teamed with John Polson, movie director and founder of the world’s largest short film festival -Tropfest, to create Tropfest@Tribeca, a new free public outdoor short film festival. The festival was created to parallel Tropfest in Australia which draws over 150,000 attendees in one evening is one of the most noted events in the country. Tropfest@Tribeca, as well as Tropfest, challenges the creativity of filmmakers to create a short film under seven minutes that incorporates in some manner one specific item. The Festival calls this the Tropfest Signature Item (TSI). Every year the item changes; this year the Tropfest@Tribeca Signature Item that will be incorporated into the shorts is "SLICE."

The evening will kick off with a pre show of live musical acts featuring DJ SHORTY and the bands HAUNT and SECOND DAN at 5:00pm. The film screenings begin at 8pm. One audience member will win a five night trip for two to Sydney, Australia in February to attend to original Tropfest courtesy of Australia.com and Qantas Airways.
