Feb. 17 & 24: Eyes on the Prize II Rebroadcast on PBS
Eyes on the Prize II, the second season of the acclaimed civil rights series, will be rebroadcast on PBS in February (Feb. 17 and 24—check local listings).
Eyes II begins in 1965, where Eyes I left off, and takes viewers through stories featuring Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali, the Black Panthers, the Black Arts movement, rioters in Detroit, prisoners at Attica, the last campaign waged by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. before his assassination, and more.
As many subscribers may know, the series (Eyes I premiered in 1987, Eyes II in 1990) has been out of circulation due to the expiration of underlying rights. Grants totaling nearly a million dollars (from the Ford Foundation and the Gilder Foundation) have allowed for its return to PBS and release on DVD (for educators).
