Jewish Film Festival London-Zagreb

The Jewish Film Festival (the JFF) was for the first time organized in Croatia in 2007, under license and in cooperation with the UK Jewish Film Festival, which was inaugurated in 1997 and has since been held, in various forms, in London, Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow and many other cities throughout UK.

The JFF in Croatia was initiated with a desire to promote the Jewish culture and way of life and encourage multicultural dialogue with the wider community. In addition, we wanted to give wider audiences an opportunity to see some of the remarkable and innovative film achievements with Jewish subject matter.

Also organizes a documentary filmmaking workshop with several distinguished guest lecturers and tutors. Pro bono President of the festival is Branko Lustig, double Academy Award winner.

Definitely the biggest novelty at the JFF this year is the widening of its scope to cover other cities and countries in the region. The festival will therefore have its first editions in Belgrade (Serbia) and Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), also in June of 2008, though in a somewhat shortened form.

The JFF London-Zagreb is organized by Magen Ltd whose main activity is graphic and web design, organizing concerts, festivals and other events. Magen also has a long-running tradition of working on projects promoting multicultural dialogue and supporting minority communities in Croatia.
