June 24 - 25: OneWorld's Power of Video for Nonprofits Workshops, Washington, DC
Learn about and discuss how you can use video to engage your audience, attract new audiences and get people excited about your issues.

June 24, 2008 - 4 - 5 p.m. EST: Power of Video for Nonprofits Teleconference
Jay Dedman and Ryanne Hodson, web producers who teach nonprofits to document and spread their work through video, will talk about how your organization can get started collecting video footage that you can use for communications and fundraising.
In a separate meeting on June 24 from 4 - 5 p.m. EST, Jay and Ryanne will share tips and resources about how you can start making videos. They will talk about video cameras, editing software, tips for uploading the video to different sites and more. This is a teleconference, not an in-person meeting.

June 25, 2008 - 3:30 - 5 p.m. EST: Power of Video for Nonprofits Workshop
Michael Hoffman, CEO of See3 Communications, will explain why you should starting integrating online video into your communications strategy. He'll also talk about how a video-centric microsite can be the straightest line between your message and your call to action in your next campaign.
Bree Bowman, Project Manager at the Center for Social Media, will talk about resources available to nonprofits that are interested in getting started with using video.
Arts Engine's own Maia Ermita, Director of Festival and Outreach, will talk about how nonprofits can integrate film and video in their online and offline outreach events to educate people about their issues and help them get involved. She will also talk about how you can use the films from the Media That Matters Film Festival as well as the resources available online.
Eddie Kurtz, Communications Associate from Brave New Films, will talk about how to make your films go viral and how to get people to take action after watching your films. They will also share some success stories and challenges they faced around promoting their films.
This meeting will take place from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday, June 25 in Washington, DC.

It is free for staff of OneWorld partner organizations. For others, it costs $50 to participate in the meeting. You can pay online; payment gives you access to both workshops. You can choose to participate in one or both. Be sure to RSVP for the workshops you would like to participate in.
