Wanted: films with fresh young views on sustainability; Deadline Sept. 19!
Attention young New Zealanders:
What does sustainability mean for the world and for you?
What does it mean for your community or neighborhood?
What do you want to say about it?
The Outlook for Someday sustainability film challenge for young New Zealanders is now in its second year.
The challenge for anyone up to 20 years of age is to make a short film. It can be made individually or by a team. Last year's winning films came from throughout New Zealand from film-makers aged 9 to 20.
You can enter The Outlook for Someday if the following two things are both true about you (and all of your team if it's a team entry):
1. You were born in 1988 or later.
2. You are a New Zealand Citizen or Resident (even if you are now living overseas).
The film can be any length up to 5 minutes in any genre - drama, documentary, animation, music video, advertisement, video blog, reality tv or even a new genre altogether. It can be filmed on a mobile phone or using a full-blown crew.
The deadline for entries is 19 September 2008.
The 20 winning films - selected by a panel of judges who work in film and television, education and youth development - will be broadcast on TVNZ6 Family on Freeview later this year.
Winning prizes include a SONY DCRHC52E MINIDV HANDYCAM! PLUS a copy of Arts Engine's eighth annual Media That Matters Film Festival DVD.
Last years 20 winners can be watched online here: www.theoutlookforsomeday.net/films/
Full details of the film challenge, including the entry form and a Toolkit to help you to plan and make your film, are on the project website at www.theoutlookforsomeday.net.
The 20 Winning Films and the Documentary from the first The Outlook for Someday film challenge are available on DVD at www.connectedmedia.org.
The Outlook for Someday is a partnership between Connected Media, The Enviroschools Foundation and the Global Education Centre (Project Partners) and TVNZ6 Family (Screen Partner).
Arts Engine is proud to be an official Project Supporter of this Festival.
