September 26: The Last Supper Festival -  Film, Art, Food, Music

Blending film, art, food, and music, the Last Supper features 13 films, including short docs from emerging directors and artists like Fiorella Castanotto, Zack Wilson, Casimir Nozkowski, and Meerkat Media Collective.  Art ranging from performance, design projects, and writing is on display, as well as 13 dishes from creative culinary masters which will grace the dinner table as the sounds of music from seven local bands and DJs provide the night’s score.  Each year, the show sparks dialog about consumption by curating projects based on a theme of global and local import. This year, more than 50 creators and volunteers will discuss ideas about “Means” with an audience of peers to evaluate our state of consumption. The decay of Summer and the emergence of Winter will be celebrated at the Fifth annual Last Supper which benefits the Food Bank NYC.

The annual salon began as a quaint backyard dinner critique series in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. With the support of local creatives and volunteers, the show has emerged as a bridge between media, genres, social spheres, and collaborators, to draw over 800 attendees for an indoor/outdoor feast for the senses. A palate of experiences, the show is somewhere between a gallery, a community forum, and a disco.

The Last Supper takes place Saturday September 26, 2009 from 6pm - 2am at 3rd Ward Brooklyn, 195 Morgan Ave, Bushwick. Hosted by the Design Twins - Teman & Teran Evans with a Sacrificial Lamb and Meal by Guest Chef Simon Lange of Apt 138.  Entry is $15 or $10 with the donation of three or more canned goods.
