November 5-13: The Oaxaca International Film and Video Festival in Oaxaca, Mexico

The Oaxaca International Film and Video Festival is an official cultural event of the long and storied city of Oaxaca de Juarez. The festival is the newest recognized member of the dynamic and energized cinematic community that has emerged within the area over the last decade.

Designed to be a competitive event, the nine days provide a platform for both the talents of seasoned filmmakers as well as emerging artists to showcase their work. The festival is equally devoted to expanding the audience for independent film. Quality film submissions of any length are welcome from all genres from anywhere in the world.

An integral part of the Oaxaca International Film and Video Festival’s mission is to contribute to the economic and creative vitality of Oaxaca.

The city of Oaxaca de Juárez, or simply Oaxaca, is the capital and largest city of the Mexican state baring the same name. Located in the Central Valleys region, in the foothills of the Sierra Madre, and at the base of the Cerro del Fortín extending to the banks of the Atoyac River.

Whether it is the ancient centre of Monte Alban, the amazing and unique Oaxacan cuisine, the brilliant arts and handcrafts, the endless street markets, the fifteen century churches, the free spirited festivals, the lavish gardens, the museums, or the rich traditions Oaxaca de Juarez has something for everyone.
