Applications Open for The Reach Film Fellowship, Deadline July 15

Applications are now open for The Reach Film Fellowship, a program for recent film school graduations making short fiction and documentary films that tackle socially relevant themes.

Filmmakers who graduated in 2008, or will graduate in 2009, are eligible. Deadline is July 15, 2009.

The Reach Film Fellowship is a granting program supporting New York Tri-State Area filmmakers who are producing socially relevant short films immediately following their undergraduate film studies.

Four fellows are selected per year and the winners are awarded a $5,000 grant, production support from the Reach Film Fellowship sponsors, mentorship, workshops, career coaching and a New York premiere event called Reach Out.

Every year at Reach Out, one of the four fellows will receive an achievement award for the best film. The winner is awarded an additional $5,000 grant from Cinereach for his/her next socially relevant film, or for the distribution and exhibition of his or her Reach film.

In previous years the Reach Film Fellowship accepted applications from current college students, and from filmmakers living across the east coast. In 2009, we will only consider applications from filmmakers who will be living in the New York Tri-State Area during the course of the Fellowship cycle and who have (or will have) graduated from film school in 2008 or 2009.
