March 29: “My Neighbor My Killer” Screening in NYC
When peace comes, how do you make it right again? An epic emotional journey in search of co-existence in Rwanda.
As the 15th commemorations of the genocide in Rwanda approach on April 7, 2009, award-winning filmmaker Anne Aghion completes her Gacaca (Ga-CHA-cha) series, an in-depth look at a tiny rural community as it prepares for and goes through a remarkable experiment in local justice after the cataclysmic mass violence of genocide. This series was filmed over the course of nine years, and is unique in the documentation of a community in transition.
