Daisy Bates: First Lady of Little Rock
As a black woman who was a feminist before the term was invented, Daisy Bates refused to accept her assigned place in society. She became a household name in 1957 when she fought for the right of nine black students to attend the all-white Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Part of PBS’ Independent Lens series, we follow a filmmaker’s 7-year journey to unravel the life of this forgotten civil rights activist. Featuring a Q&A with Director Sharon La Cruise. $5 suggested donation.
