NEW AMERICAN GIRLS Launches Kickstarter Campaign

New American Girls, a web series about undocumented students fiscally sponsored by Arts Engine, has launched a Kickstarter Campaign!

Indepedent producer Mitch Teplitsky (Soy Andina) has a new project in the works, sponsored by Arts Engine—New American Girls, a web series about four young women raised in the USA, aiming for careers in medicine, law and education. Only they’re stuck—undocumented. Brought here as kids by undocumented parents, they can’t work legally, and even risk deportation.

The project is being made for Latino Public Broadcasting for distribution to PBS or other public media online in 2012.

“Latino Public Broadcasting is proud to support this timely project,” says Executive Director Sandie Viquez. “The ‘New American Girls’ will shed light on the DREAM Act and inspire youth—the most avid users of new media—by showcasing students who are pursuing higher education, in spite of their legal status.”

Teplitsky has just launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $20,000 by January 1.
