History and Memory: For Akiko and Takashige
History And Memory, an excerpt

In this 90-second clip, from Rea Tajiri’s History and Memory: For Akiko and Takashige, a personal family story suddenly intersects with the historic narrative of the internment camps, as Tajiri discovers an archive photograph of her very own grandmother in a bird-carving class in the internment camp. This sequence is poetic and lyrical, yet accessible.

Great pace, story just beginning to unravel…ironic, takes an image to discover ones image. Can’t wait to see History & Memory in its entirety.

Wow, my father never talked of his incarceration… Mom worked in the kitchen food prep for the camp… Told me of big Blow flies, food not fit for Humans.. there is intense sadness in me. Do I want closure? What is it I want?
