November 7 & 21: 40/40 Vision, A Series of Cocktail Events in Support of Rooftop Films
Each of the parties will feature the best of Rooftop Films’ programming, touching on themes from NYC stories to social justice to comedy.
Sat 11/7/09 - 34 x 25 x 36 (Jesse Epstein | Brooklyn, NY) For some, perfection on the job means achieving an unrealistic perfection of beauty. This lively and spooky documentary tour of the Patina V Mannequin Factory in Industry City, CA, shows how our perception of the “ideal” female form has been manufactured.
Sat 11/21/09 - Carlin (Brent Green | Schuylkill Haven, PA) ” My Aunt Carlin moved in with us when I was a kid. She had diabetes and really wanted to die. She didn’t think she’d ever die. I was pretty sure she would.” Carlin was shot stop-motion, with life-sized wooden characters and taxidermied chickens, in the farmhouse Brent Green grew up in. The screening will include a live musical performance by Brent accompanying the film.
Your $40 admission (100% tax deductible) gets you a themed meal and beer graciously donated by Radeberger Pilsner. We’ll be screening excerpts of the best of Rooftop Films programming rain or shine and you’ll have a chance to meet Rooftop staff and featured filmmakers. Don’t forget to bring your checkbook, cash or credit card—we’ll be ‘passing the hat’ later in the evening, and EVERY little bit helps. Rooftop Films t-shirts and information about their programs will also be available.
Think about it - $40 gets you a meal, free drinks and outdoor films on a great Brooklyn deck—what better way to get your Saturday night started? At that price, bring a friend (or two).
All parties start at 8pm, and films start at 9:30pm sharp! Please RSVP in advance by contacting Tad Barnes at JTadBarnes@gmail.com, and paying your $40 admission charge atRooftopFilms.com, on the 40/40 page. Payment can also be made by check the night of each party. For more information about the “40/40 Vision” series, please contact Tad Barnes atJTadBarnes@gmail.com
