October 29 - November 1: Free Culture Forum Barcelona

Across the planet, people are recognizing the need for an international space to build and coordinate a global framework and common agenda for issues surrounding free culture and access to knowledge. The Free Culture Forum of Barcelona aims to create such a space.

Bringing together the key organizations and active voices in the free culture and knowledge space, the Forum will be a meeting point to sit and put together the answers to the pressing questions behind the present paradigm shift.

The Forum will be an open space for drawing up proposals to present the position of civil society on the privatization of the intellectual production and creation debate and its impact on access to knowledge, and on creation and distribution of art and culture.

Over the course of three days discussions will cover topics ranging from education and access to knowledge, new P2P models and sustainable distribution, free software and open standards, legal perspectives, and political implications of free culture.

Schedule:
The 30th will be structured as a series of predefined presentations and participation is open to everybody during question time and in the final debate.  On the 31st and the 1st, everybody is welcome to join the working groups, either as active participants or listeners, based on their interests and/or knowledge. This is where the moderator filter the interventions.  If you have something that you think is relevant and should be taken into account in the prior preparation of the forum, please email it to us. All contributions that take into account the structure and the objectives mentioned above are welcome.  During the forum there will be a space where you can leave your materials and consult those of others, as long as they are in line with the topics that the forum deals with.  There will also be a bulletin board available so that anybody can propose activities to be held on the 31st. The forum will provide some informal areas in which to invite people interested in sharing experiences or working on particular topics.

If you would like to participate in the forum, as listener, you are welcome: it is open to everybody and there is no need to register in advance.
