Earth Island Institute hosts the annual Brower Youth Awards—the premier awards for bold young environmental leaders in North America. Each year, we select six extraordinary youth under 23 for recognition.

We produce short films to tell powerful stories centering on these young environmental innovators who are charting the path to a green future. Our films delve into exploring the way these Gen Y ambassadors are leading our society into a green economy and green consciousness. These films premiere at our awards gala with 900 members of the public, held at the historic Herbst Theatre in San Francisco in October.

In addition, these films are shown to a wide audience on broadcast television, via film festivals, and using Web 2.0.
To give you a very quick picture of who we are—Earth Island Institute is a non-profit organization founded by environmental advocate and famed conservationist David R. Brower. We are best known for incubating more than 100 environmental organizations, including Rainforest Action Network, International Rivers, and BlueWater Network.
