Description
Ambulante emerges from a profound interest in promoting a documentary culture within Mexico and internationally.
Despite globalization, the world seems to be diverging socially, politically and culturally and yet the images and sounds that prevail in mainstream media do not seem to reflect such a reality.
Documentaries capture the neglected fragments of reality, piecing them together in order to reveal the complexity that governs our surroundings. They are inextricably bound to the human capacity to understand and transform the world and to challenge its current social, political and environmental conditions.
We believe that promoting a documentary culture is particularly necessary in Mexico, a country that has witnessed an increasing polarization in socioeconomic class, political affiliation and demographic distribution.
Ambulante adopts an interventionist stance, rather than a mere expository role, aiming to bring documentary film to places where they would rarely (or never) get distribution. The aim of Ambulante, is thus to foster an audience that can actively participate in the creation of a new and diversified media culture.
Along its course, Ambulante will create a unique narrative, paving the way for dialogue and controversy, gathering people and images and simultaneously mobilizing public opinion while transforming the cinematic landscape in Mexico and abroad. As a "Traveling Distributor" its mission is to breed to capacity to envision a world beyond borders.
