Description
Southeast European Film Festival educates about the cultural diversity of Southeast Europe and fosters cultural exchange through its annual presentations of films from this region.
Throughout the year the program offers individual screenings and promotes SEE films at other festivals, organizes seminars and lectures, and creates opportunities for cultural exchange between Southern California and Southeast Europe.
About Southeast Europe::
Southeast Europe is a land between the West and the Orient, mixing the elements of both in an explosive multi-ethnic melting pot. Meandering through the countries of this turbulent region are the only direct land passageways between Western Europe and the Middle East. Almost everything is subject to some kind of dispute: borders, names of the countries, regions and languages; the place is rife with historical claims which have a tendency to confuse outside visitors. Today the fragile landscape of Southeast Europe is host to many initiatives aimed at creating lasting stability, eventually leading to integration and acceptance into the European Union.
We shall limit ourselves to the pursuit of one tradition that Southeast Europe gave birth to, that of cessation of all hostilities during the Olympic Games. With that in mind welcome to our film festival, and enjoy the show.
